? What time zone is Belarus in?
Belarus is in the Eastern European Standard (EET) time zone. EET is 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3).
? What is the currency of Belarus?
The Belarus currency is the ruble (rubel).
? What is the electricity voltage in Belarus?
Electricity in Belarus is 220v, 50Hz alternating current. All plugs are symmetrical two pin, as in continental Western Europe. If you are travelling from the UK or the USA it is advisable to take at least two adaptor sets with you.
? What is the Belarus country code?
The telephone dialling code for Belarus is +375
? What is the tipping etiquette in Belarus?
Tipping is entirely discretionary in Belarus and service charges are not automatically added to the bill. If you want to tip in a restaurant or café, give about 5% of the total amount. Taxi driversand hotel staff don’t generally expect tips, although they are always gratefully received!
? Thirty-day visa-free travel to Belarus
To enter Belarus for 30 days visa-free foreign nationals must have the following documents:
a valid passport or another substituting document for traveling abroad;
financial means (at least two base amounts* denominated in dollars or Belarusian rubles for each day of stay, or 50 base amounts if the period of stay is 30 days);
*since 1 January 2020 one base amount is Br27
medical travel insurance valid across Belarus with a minimum medical coverage of  €10,000;
Citizens of Vietnam, Haiti, Gambia, India, Lebanon, Namibia, Samoa must also have a valid multi-visa to the EU states or the Schengen Area with a stamp confirming the entry to their territory and plane tickets confirming the departure from Minsk National Airport within 30 days after the date of the entry.
? What are the rules for personal luggage?
Travellers are allowed to take up to 50 kg of personal luggage with them to Belarus, up to a value of 1,500 euros. Any items in addition to this are subject to duty at 30% and not less than 4 euros per kilo.
? Are there any duty-free limits?
Yes. The following items are restricted for import:
spirits (including beer) 3 litres
cigarettes 200 or 250 g tobacco
? How much money can you take into Belarus?
There is no limit on the amount of foreign currency that you can take with you into Belarus. You must declare amounts over 10,000 USD on entry to Belarus on the declaration form.
? What items are not allowed to be taken into Belarus?
The following items can NOT be carried by travellers to Belarus:
military equipment
radioactive and explosive substances
Animals and plants can only be brought into Belarus with the appropriate health and veterinary certificates.

If you are a victim of crime in Belarus...
Crime levels are relatively low in Belarus. But if you do become the victim of a robbery, assault or other crime, you should report it to the police.
If you are staying in a Belarus hotel, report the crime to the hotel staff and they will help you notify the police.
If you are injured and taken to hospital, you should try to make contact with your Embassy or local Consular Department as soon as possible.
If you fall ill in Belarus...
If you are taken ill during your visit, contact your Embassy or local Consular Department if you can.
All travellers to Belarus need travel insurance to enter the country. 
Make sure you have a comprehensive insurance policy so that you can get treatment outside of Belarus if necessary.
There are private clinics in Minsk which accept cash payments.
If you are arrested in Belarus…
Be aware that drivers are not allowed to take any alcohol. Penalties for drug-related offences in Belarus are also severe.
? Where can you get cash in Belarus?
There are a large number of exchange offices in all cities in Belarus. These are most often found at hotels, major airports, train stations, bus depots, most main streets. You can also change money at most banks and there are a growing number of ATM machines in Belarus, particularly in Minsk.
The most commonly accepted currencies at exchange offices and banks are: US dollars, euros, Russian rubles 
In Belarus, especially in Minsk, there are many ATMs where you can withdraw money. You can find an ATM in any bank office, supermarket or shopping mall.
? Can you use bank cards and travellers cheques?
Bank cards are widely used in Belarus. You can use them in shops, hotels, restaurants and self-service kiosks.
The most widespread international payment systems in Belarus are Visa and MasterCard.
Online payment systems are also available in Belarus. American Express traveler's checks are no longer sold or redeemed in Belarus.
